BhangraFest in Birmingham allows all those who enjoy rhythm and global dance beats to witness and watch the very best live Bhangra acts.
BhangraFest opens Artsfest 2006Friday 8th September 2006 7.30 - 11pmCentenary Square, Broad St, Birmingham</span>

<span style='color:orange'>Acts appearing at BhangraFest 2006 include:

• Alaap – an act that initiated the bhangra movement as we know it, have been performing for over 20 years with a particularly strong following in the Indian subcontinent.
• Achanak – are a much travelled bhangra band and have had their tracks licensed all over the world including the first band to appear in an interactive game – X box 360’s – Project Gotham City 3. They also became the first bhangra band to have their material licensed in China and Hong Kong.
• Apna Group – Like Alaap, this Birmingham based band have been performing for over 20 years. Known for their more traditional performances, Apna have carved out a niche in this market.
• Dalvinder Singh – represents the new breed of bhangra bands. The band includes two brothers who have come from a musical background where their father was a major force in the bhangra industry in the 70’s and 80’s.</span>

<span style='color:orange'>Take part in a series of bhangra workshops and master classes taught by internationally renowned bhangra artists. Learn a variety of bhangra instruments, vocals/Boliyan and bhangra dance. This is the perfect opportunity to get hands on introduction to bhangra.</span>

<span style='color:red'>Bhangra SeminarSunday 10th September 2006 2pm to 4pmArtsFest Eastside Millennium Point, Think Tank Theatre</span>
<span style='color:orange'>Have the opportunity to find out more about Bhangra In Birmingham by attending a special Bhangra seminar, which will be presented by recognised names from the Bhangra Industry in Birmingham. Have the opportunity to ask questions and gain a greater insight. Due to the limited seating capacity of 180 this event will be a first come first served.</span>
